Valentines Day, 2014

Had a GREAT day, up until the Cats went and lost in double over-time to the scum devils 🙁

Had a good day at work, got to have a fantastic lunch with the wife :). That was the high-light of my day. I NEVER get to have lunch with the wife unless she’s on my side of town, since I don’t get to drive around anymore. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, my buddy Roy had gotten me a gift certificate for my birthday that we hadn’t had a chance to use and it worked out great!

Coming back from lunch the temp gauge on the car started to rise – troubleshooting it at different stops – it was the relay. Even though it says 40-amps on it, don’t believe a Checker/Oreilly/Autozone relay. Time to invest in a couple of good relays (one for standby) or get a PWM controller.

So I get back in the office and my wife tells me that one of my girls got ZERO Valentine cards from her classmates, while her twin did. She was devastated, I was heart-broken. I will do my best to bring up her spirits and let her know she’s loved.

Lastly – I scaled the images I’m going to use for what I have to start with for images for my firearms stuff, mainly my AMD-65 build pictures and a few of the CZ-52 pistol. I need to take new pictures of it after having repainted it with ceramic coating to silver and black.

Thanks enough for tonight, will add more this weekend I’m sure.

December! (or damn, been a while…)

Had to post something since it had been a while. 🙁

So, what’s happened since the last post…?

Arizona lost homecoming to Washington State and then turned around and pounded Oregon, beating the ducks 42 to 16. How did they celebrate that? By getting killed by ASU, 58 to 21. Well, based on their number of wins the Cats get to go to a bowl and this year its the AdvoCare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, La., 31-DEC, at 10:30AM MST.

Arizona played UNLV Saturday, 7-DEC, and won. Given that Michigan State, previous #1, lost, Arizona should be ranked #1 come Monday!

Went to the Small Arms Review gun show at the state fairgrounds in Phoenix. Wow! 😮 Every building was PACKED!. I took one of my girls with me – even tired her out. 🙂 I will go every year if this is how it is. Absolutely fantastic. I got alot of stuff I needed/wanted, like reloading stuff, still need 6.5 projectiles, but I’ll work on that. I’ll also be starting to look for lead and the alloying metals to harden it – I want to start casting my own bullets. But seriously, got some brass, bullets, some push daggers for the wife and my sisters, a .308 die set (needs the shell holder but that’s cheap), and a load carrying vest. All that and most of the day spent with my little girl.

Finished the tongs for my foundry project, need to get some time at home now to do some melting! We’ll be going to Phoenix for my buddy Roy’s mountain bike race Saturday, 14-DEC, should have Sunday available to start melting!

Progress…

So, this past weekend I went to Tucson Iron, looking for some well casing. Success! I found some 8″ ID 1/8th inch well casing! Now I can make my crucible! From there I went to Industrial Metal Supply for a steel disk for the base. I bought a 1/4 inch 10″ diameter disc, but after I brought it home, it may be too much. I also have an 1/8th inch 10″ disc that I’ll probably use. I’ll be putting up pictures and the process on a page in the next day or so. Stoked!

Today I also received my order from Sarco. Woo-hoo! Three 1903 Enfield drill barrels that were purchased for their .30 caliber bores to make barrels for my PPS-43 project, as well as for my 7.62×25-based AK. I also got a couple more hammer springs and three 1911 mag catch springs to use in AK trigger groups as the disconnector spring. Happy day!
