What a weekend!

We were supposed to go up to Guadalupe Friday night, but the wife unit got out of work late and was really cranky so we delayed it until the following morning. Like a dolt though, I couldn’t sleep and didn’t get to sleep until 12:30PM! Doh!

We got up a 6:15AM and were actually on the road by 7:15AM. I was duly impressed. Got to Glendale by 9:15AM – doesn’t get any better than that – we parked right up next to the entrance we were so early! No parking fee but that was made up when we paid for the entrance – $16 each for me and Vicki, kids get in free for another year and a half. Well Done

We ended up splitting up inside, with the kids orbiting us, moving between us. Vicki is on the hunt for a 1911, we need to save up money for her. I had a list of stuff, but what I really wanted, the reloading stuff, wasn’t there. I ended up getting some AK parts (recoil springs, disconnector springs, one hammer spring,), and a 25rnd 10/22 magazine. Sofia found a new dog leash for Jack – its pretty nice. Vicki got another 12-pack of mini crossbow bolts,  medical kit bag we need to fill, and a pair of personal stun guns she wants to give to my sisters. Didn’t find a whole lot else, so our next stop was Randall’s,  a firearms place in Glendale.

Randall’s – really nice guys, know their stuff, and were polite to my little girl (Sofia went in with me). What’s not to like? I got the powder I wanted (AA-7) and large rifle primers, right off the shelf. Cheaper than on-line and NO hazmat fee. I WILL go back.

We had heard about the prepper and military surplus in Mesa on Main Street, so we decided we’d go look. Nothing. Nada. I’ll have to look up on the web, we were so sure that at the one AZ prepper’s convention that we’d seen lots of cards with Main Street addresses. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

On the way back we stopped by the Native New Yorker on Broadway in Tempe, saw the first half of the Arizona vs Cal game. Towards the end of the 1st half the game was interrupted with ‘pay your bill’ message so we could only hear it. We left. At least on the radio in the Jeep and at the in-laws the game wasn’t interrupted. We relaxed there for the rest of the day, Vicki too her mom to the store, but that’s about it. We got up this morning and had breakfast before loading up and coming home. It was nice to sleep in!

I FINALLY fixed Marisol’s little storage box for her Monster High dolls. She’s never bugged me, just patiently waited. I love that kid. Anyway, now I can move on to my other projects without feeling guilty.Uncertain

To end the day, we broke out the hand-held crossbows. What a riot! They are so much fun! Even the girls loved playing with them – we WILL be doing this more often. As competitive as they are, this should get good!

Busy Weekend!

Started Friday night – the battery in my 262c died. 🙁 Amazing what a new battery will do for a car, though. The battery must have been dying for a while because the car runs better – smoother almost, starts faster, and idles better. Lesson learned.

My Mom’s DSL connection was dog slow. Come to find out that her speeds had been dropped down by Qwest or whatever they call themselves now. There may be a bad line from the pole to her house though – the neighbor’s tree is pulling the line down.

I made progress on my seat adapters for the 262c so I can put BMW seats into it. I ran out of 1 1/4 flat 1/8th strap, so I’ll have to get that to finish. I’ll put up pictures when I’m done.

Another thing I did was do a quick garage alignment on the 262c. When I installed the new-to-me rack it moved the steering wheel so it pointed to the right. A couple quick turns and it was pointed back straight. I still have to adjust it back a tiny bit, it’s pointed to the left now just enough to be annoying but not enough to be obvious. That and it has a teensy weensy pull to the right. Before I learned how to make these adjustments I would have spent the $70 to get it aligned but not any more. A quick session in the garage and I took care of alot of ills.

On other fronts: the Arizona Wildcats are in the Sweet 16 again! Wins over Belmont and Harvard have put them in a contest with Ohio State. It’ll be a tough game but should be a good contest.

Marana Unified’s spring break is over, the kids went back to school today. They weren’t too excited, to say the least.

That’s enough news, more stuff later!

Happy New Year!

So we’ve reached the end of another year – and we’ve survived it.

Our kids are all happy and healthy and doing well in school. The twins are learning how to play a violin(Sofia) and my old sax (Isabel) – a painful and fun experience – Marisol is in choir. I feel sorry for my parents now, having to go through FIVE of these evolutions. 8)

My Volvo is in dry dock, it needs a catalytic converter and an O2 sensor because it doesn’t pass emissions. A little cash should get it going pretty quickly. Something always comes up that’s more important though – its a good thing we have the van.

Vicki is still working at AAA Landscape – 18 years so far. Same length of time as we’ve been married. That’s right, we’ve been married since 1994! And I’m still alive!

I’ve been with Integrated Axis now for another year – I’m the managed services administrator now. I’m tasked with making sure that the we’re able to monitor our customer’s servers and networks and that we receive notifications of any failures. It’s alot of work but it keeps me busy.

We celebrated Christmas and New Years at my Mom’s – it was nice. We stayed up until 5:00AM – it was crazy! I’m too old. There, I said it. We watched the ‘new’ “Spiderman” and “Loopers” – the more you drink the better some movies are – just sayin’.

I feel very disappointed with the way our country voted in the 2012 election – a slim majority voted for someone I feel is a very poor choice as leader of the free world. We somehow re-elected a socialist, re-distributor of wealth who is bound and determined to change our country from a nation of producers to a nation of takers. Now, with the recent shooting tragedies this man has expressed his intention to push for MORE gun control instead of addressing what many have identified the main issue – mental health. On top of that, he and his minions in the Senate are unable to submit a budget as required by law but somehow feel qualified to choke our economy with a trillion dollar monstrosity of an abortion called the ‘affordable healthcare act’. Extended unemployment benefits. Quantitative easing (printing more money). Need to make sure you are saving money and have your firearms and ammo squared away.
